About the course
Understanding and Supporting Neurodivergent Children
Parenting a neurodivergent child can be both rewarding and challenging. Many parents and carers want to better understand their child’s unique needs but may feel unsure where to start. This course has been designed to provide practical knowledge, reassurance, and strategies that support children to thrive.
This course introduces the concept of neurodiversity and explores how differences in brain development can influence learning, behaviour, communication, and emotional regulation. Parents will gain insight into how neurodivergent children experience the world and how supportive environments can make a significant difference in their wellbeing and development.
Throughout the course, you will learn about common neurodivergent conditions such as Autism, ADHD, and Dyslexia, while also recognising the many strengths and talents neurodivergent children often possess. The course emphasises a strengths-based approach, helping parents move beyond focusing only on challenges to recognising their child’s abilities and potential.
Practical strategies are included to support children with:
-
Emotional regulation
-
Sensory sensitivities
-
Communication and connection
-
Behaviour that may signal overwhelm
-
Building confidence and resilience
Parents and carers will also learn how routines, clear communication, and supportive environments can help reduce stress and improve everyday experiences for neurodivergent children.
By the end of this course, participants will feel more confident in understanding their child’s needs and supporting them in ways that nurture their wellbeing, development, and strengths.
